Peace

I took this of Zoe in front of one of her favorite downtown shops.  She must have thought I was going to send this picture to Santa Claus, because the look on her face says, "Please?"

It is Christmas Eve, mid morning and I am seated with my laptop next to a drifting off toddler (not a baby anymore) named Daisy. From downstairs I can hear the sounds of AW, slicing and peeling and browning and spattering tomorrow's big dinner all over the kitchen.  She is always so good about getting a head start on the cooking.  I support her efforts by cleaning up after her.  I can also hear the sounds of play and the occasional raised voice of a child.

We have about 20 people for Christmas Dinner tomorrow, mostly relatives, but also some friends.  It means a lot of work, but it gets us motivated to clean up and get organized, and it sure is nice to be with loved ones on Christmas.

Tonight Zoe will be an angel in the Christmas pageant.  I brought her to rehearsal yesterday and although very shy and nervous, she loved the music and learning the bible story of the first Christmas.

The holiday also means seeing old friends when they come home to spend time with their families.  This photo was taken the other day as the old road warriors spun out a few miles in the countryside.  The guy on the right has been one of my best friends since sixth grade.  That was the year his family moved to our hometown.  He lives many hours away, but there is a closeness there that never fades.

Well, Daisy is sleeping deeply now, and AW needs my help.  So Merry Christmas to all, and peace be with you.

Tom - Enjoy this time with your kids. Before you know it, they grow up and move away. Well, at least you'll have a plane so visiting them won't take too long.
