Shopping For Mom

Daisy and AW 1 year ago today.  




AW makes Christmas shopping pretty easy on me.   She is the one who creates the long list of people we need to remember for the holiday, and then she usually has all the ideas and forethought to make it happen.

That leaves me with the task of remembering a gift for her, from me, and from the kids.  I am mostly an online shopper, but I thought it would be important to give Zoe and Teddy the tactile experience of         going Christmas shopping, the old fashioned way.                                                                    
                                                                                                                              

We have been seeing record cold temperatures today, so the mall (cringe) was the shopping venue of choice.  In true Daisy Daddy form, I forgot to bring a stroller along.  This worked out fine, in that I rented one that all three kids could ride on that looked like a fire engine.  Of course, after paying $5.00 to release it from the machine, I spotted an abandoned one near the mall exit.

We all had great fun riding the contraption down some handicap ramps, and then we stopped for an ice cream, but finally I had to face the shopping monster.

We found some great gifts for each child to give to mom.  (What, I can't say here, of course)  Standing in line to pay for these items, with a 5, 3 and 1 year old in tow and a long line of shoppers waiting, proved to be, well, interesting.

I ran into an old friend of my mother's, said hello, and noticed she kept looking around for AW.  Finally she asked, "Did you come down here with the three of them, ALONE?"

When we got home, there was still time to get our purchases gift wrapped and put under the tree.   Man those kids love to play with tape.  We bought ten rolls of gift wrap tape for the season this year, and it will be all gone by Christmas.
